I call him pretty dang cute!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This Valentine's Day we decided to start a new tradition. Instead of booking a babysitter a month in advance and fighting the crowds for a simple meal and movie we decided to start spending Valentine's together as a family. During the day I helped the kids make valentine cards and Brad and I each got them a little gift. I made a dinner I knew they would love so there would be no fighting over eating their food. We ate by candle light which the kids really loved. During the day I got a package in the mail with fresh roses and chocolates. While I was opening it the kids and I were making guesses of who it was from. Alex was pretty sure it was from her Dad but after I read the sweet card she pointed out that we don't really know who it's from because there's no name on the card. So anytime I mentioned my flowers from Brad she pointed out that we didn't know for sure yet that they were from him and that it was from a secret admirer! I told Brad he might have some competition out there from my secret admirer.

Snow Ramp

We built this snow ram in the backyard the other day. I wanted to get Alex to go down it on her skis but she was less inclined. They had fun on it anyway.

Favorite Phrases

A few of Johnny's favorite phrases.

"Uh-Oh, DADDY FICK (fix) IT!"

"Ri dare" as in "Airpane ri dare!" "Sissy ri dare!" "Howie ri dare!"

"I get you!" (watch out, he's ready to charge)

"Sissy did it!" (self explanatory)

"Jew, jew, jew, jew!" (Juice)

"Boot on!" (Dora and Boots, his favorite show)

and the newest but most definitely my favorite:

"Pee pee Mommy!"

Notice how they all end with an explanation point. He has one volume and that's LOUD!!!

Busy Bodies

Trying to think of ways to keep Johnny off of the carpet while potty training. I had them coloring and putting stickers on their box fort while I attempted to paint my laundry room.

Potty Training...

Oh how I've dreaded this day and have put it off for so long. Johnny has been asking to wear undies since he turned two 6 months ago and I hadn't had the courage to try. We've been using the potty and talking about potty training for quite awhile now and I think he sensed that I'd rather change diapers than teach him to use the potty. With Alex, I was in such a hurry to get her potty trained before Johnny was born and I put so much pressure on her that it ended up being the worse experience I have had to go through within my past 5 years of motherhood. I have heard many times that boys are harder to train than girls and so I have been putting it off as long as possible. His cousin who is only a couple of months older than him is wearing undies now and that made him want it even more. So for the whole month of January I told him that if he can go "#2" in the potty then I would let him wear undies. Well last Sunday he did just that so for the past week he has been in undies and it has been a breeze! I think that since it was all his decision he feels more inclined to wear them rather than something he's being forced into. That's when Alex finally got potty trained was when I gave up and told her that it's ok, we'll try again when she gets a little older. I accepted the fact that I would have two kids in diapers for awhile and then a couple of days later she decided that it was something she wanted and from then on it was a piece of cake. He's so proud of them and likes running around the house in his little boxer briefs. Today he had on his white shirt and tie, paired with his favorite truck undies so I had to take a picture. I hope I'm not jinxing myself by posting this blog but I couldn't be happier with how smooth this transition from baby to big boy is coming along.
