First Day

We made it through the first day of school! Well Alex gets home in 26 minutes so I guess the tally is still out but I have high expectations for that one. Over the summer I thought this day would never come and then some how last night it crept up on me and I wasn't as prepared as I thought I would be. Last night Alex gave me the puppy dog eyes asking me to meet her at school in the morning like I did for her first day last year. After a few pleads, I gave in and then this morning as I was walking her to her room she assured me that she could find room #4 just fine and hurried on ahead without me. Johnny is at a new preschool this year but his teacher was also his nursery teacher last year and he knows a few of the kids in his class from primary. He was a little shy when we first arrived but was still to cool to be coddled by his Mom. It was nice to see how excited he was about his first day back at school when I went to pick him up. Now Johnny and Hunter are anxiously awaiting Alex's school bus as they have been asking about her all afternoon. I remember sitting out front with Alex when she was only a year old and waving at the same school bus as it drove by our house. I can't believe she's riding it home now. She doesn't get home until 4pm, not much sooner than her Dad. A schedule that will take some getting used to for both of us I'm sure.

Just in time

Yesterday, Alex cashed in her change from her piggy bank and had enough to buy a little pet shop toy at the store. She is now anxious to fill her piggy bank once again. So in her eyes, the tooth came out just in time because she could really use the cash. How convenient. I guess after writing 3 letters already and finding out that the Tooth Fairy and I look an aweful lot alike, some of the novelty has worn off. This letter to the tooth fairy said simply (in her own phonetic writing of course) "I love you Tooth Fairy, thanks for the money. Alex"

A Last Hoorah

Not being able to stand the thought of letting a summer slip through my fingers without a single camping trip, I informed Sariah we were packing up the kids and camping gear and headed up into the mountains.

With the campsite to ourselves, we looked at our meager kitchen with the fireplace a little too close to the tent and picked out a nice shaded kitchen with a view across the way.

Spork Power!

Waiting for the sun before shedding our cozy sleeping bags.
Here's a basket and some rope, let your imagination run wild.

Expedition Crew

Uhhh......

We did it! We squeezed in one last hoorah before school starts. I knew this summer would fly by, at least we created a few memories along the way.

Volleyball Camp!

I signed Alex up for a week of volleyball camp. It was so cute watching these little girls try to bump, set and serve. Alex was one of the youngest in the group but she did pretty good learning the basics of the game and getting on her way to the 2024 Summer Olympics! Or at least volleyball at the park with Mom, Dad and Johnny.

This entire week we also get to have my nephew Ethan at our house while his parents get away to Hawaii. Johnny is in heaven with a round the clock friend at his disposal. Then tomorrow Sariah arrives home with Hunter, YAY! So Alex will have a buddy as well, can't wait!

What we've been up to...

A weekend at the cabin with the Johnsons!

Taking rides on the Rhino and 4 wheeler

Hiking to the lake and climbing on the thinking rock.

Roasting marshmallows, colored flames and a little black magic...
