4 or 14?

Our little princess sure is growing up. She had been waiting for this package to come in the mail from her Grammie. She only had to wait a couple of days but to her they seemed like an eternity. When they finally came we were pulling out of our garage and I saw them on the doorstep. So I threw them in the truck and headed to my destination. Alex, all excited asked if any of those packages were for her (there were two). I told her that actually they were both for her and she got so excited and gitty she wanted to open them right then and there. Not having anything to open them with and being in a moving vehicle I told her she must wait until we get back home to open them. The whole time we were out running errands she was talking about her new dress, shoes and purse that she was sure were in those packages and how she "hopes they will be wonderful". When she finally got to tear open the packages to reveal her "beautiful new pink dress" she exclaimed "oh this really IS wonderful!" She then opened the package with the matching shoes and purse and could hardly breath she was so elated. I suggested we try on the shoes to make sure they fit and she says to me "these are going to be so lovely on me!" She can't be my daughter because anyone who knows me, knows I DO NOT talk like that. Too many Barbie Princess movies I guess. Needless to say, it was a long week until she was able to adorn her new outfit and show it off to everyone she passed at church. She asked her Dad and I a few times if we thought she looked pretty. Talk about you're pampered princess. She was walking on air all day and did NOT want to take it off because she knew that tomorrow would NOT be Sunday and she would NOT be able to wear her "pretty pink dress". Can I just add, I HATED wearing dresses growning up and still do. All my efforts to turn Alex into a tom boy have failed. Thanks Grammie!

This is a hilarious post because your mom probably tried to make you into a princess and here now you are trying to make Alex into a sporty girl. Hilarious. At least your mom has found her match finally. She had to skip a generation.

She is so cute though! Keep working on her. Maybe you will be able to at least get her to enjoy sporty things, even if her nails have to be done while doing them!
