Happy Heritage Day!

Yes, that is what Brad is trying to teach our kids. That St. Patrick's Day is "heritage" day because part of their ancestors came over from Ireland once upon a time. He's trying to stake his claim on this fun little holiday. Well, I'm all for it, I love St. Patrick's Day! And even though the kids were totally put off by the possibility of eating green eggs for breakfast (maybe next year) I did make sure they were all wearing their green today. I laid out Alex's only green shirt (that she has never worn) and she quickly replaced it with a much cuter pink shirt with a hint of green on the flowers because (as she told me) "pink and green go great together". She accessorized with a pink and green necklace and we topped it off with a green bow in her hair that she found laying around and I tied to her headband. The bow is thanks to my friend, Sara, because while I was good and joined a gym this week, she was good and brought me a box full of mint brownies for St. Patrick's Day (which I ate the majority of and shared a few crumbs with my family). She must have known I would need a green ribbon for my daughter's hair today. I hope you remembered YOUR green today!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!

The little things

It's been awhile since we've pulled out the paints. I used to do it more often when I had one kid to clean up after and she was particularly meticulous about how messy she got. Now I have 3 (Hunter included) so the paints rarely make an appearance. However the other day Alex came home and insisted that she had an art contest she needed to enter into at school. She needed a "board that's kind of like paper" (poster board) and paints. So, not wanting to hinder her creative thought process, I give her the needed supplies and let her go at it. Of course, there's no hiding paints from the boys so once they were out, they were into them. It is fun to see what they come up with. Maybe I will make a point to pull them out more often.

And THIS is why I LOVE my new car!
The kids can be completely separated from each other, with headphones on, watching a movie. It's like I'm in the car all by myself, listening to my relaxing music and NOT yelling at the kids the entire time to keep their hands off of each other and voices down.
LOVE IT!!!

Tubing

We made it back to the tubing hill this season, always a good time. Alex felt like an old pro and it wasn't long before she and Hunter were going down by themselves. Johnny was grinning from ear to ear the entire time and also wanted to go down with either Shaun or Aunti Ri most of the time. That left me and Brad to go down a few time together which was fun. Escpesially since he didn't get to come with us last year. The hill was icy so we were flying down the run and the sun was shining so we were shedding clothes halfway through it. I only wish the little camera I brought held out a little better so I could've gotten some videos. It was fun though, definitely a must every winter!

Ski Trip with Bret and Jo

Well we made it to our annual ski trip with Bret and Jolene this year. It's always the best skiing of the season, especially now that Bret gets us passes to Deer Valley (he teaches lessons there) and acts as our personal tour guide (the mountain is gigantic) as well as gives me invaluable tips so my skiing improves each time. This season I even made it down a black diamond and some double blues without freezing up. I've also learned that my boot is a size too big so that's another reason I've had a harder time controling my skis on the faster runs. I made the mistake of letting Bret be in charge of the camera and so unfortunately I don't have any of the pictures taken with him in them (won't make that mistake again). The one above is of us with Jo and her good friend Shannon who skied with us that day. The weather said it would be stormy and wet but the sun was shining and the snow was beautiful! Thanks Bret and Jo for another great weekend on the mountain!
